Our declining economy
Now, before I begin let me first acknowledge that I am no economy expert but my findings and observations are solely based on common sense.
What has happened within our government to cause such a mess in America's society? Are they not supposed to represent our (the people) best interest? Instead, I'm seeing gas prices soar, food prices soar, people getting laid off from lack of work, factories closing, etc. Where is our government in all of this? This so called economic stimulus package, in my opinion, is a very flimsy attempt to stimulate the economy. How is $1,200 or less - that is not even being dispersed until May - per household going to reverse the damage that has already been done? How is it going to lower the crude oil prices which we know is what causes the price of gasoline and natural gas to go up, not to mention groceries, clothing, and other goods?
The American people are suffering; small businesses are suffering and they are the backbone of this country. We are all being taxed to death with no relief in sight. The housing market is in a 13 year slump. Yet, our leaders sit back and do nothing. This is the worst I have seen our economy in my 29 years of life. I grew up poor and worked hard to achieve what I have today and feel like the rug is being pulled out from under me. My husband and I own a small business that was thriving and has begun to greatly sink due to current economic conditions. I look around for help and all I see is one brick wall with no help in sight.
Why are we not out in the streets protesting? This is our country and it is about time we take it back! Back from all the greedy oil companies who pocket millions of dollars worth of bonuses every year, back from the government who will not help us in our time of need, back from OPEC (the international oil companies), back from those who wish to oppress us! Please let us band together and take a stand before it is too late (remember the late Dr.Martin Luther King who said "We Shall Overcome") and we are back in the Great Depression era!
